The Sustainability Working Group will host two work days this weekend, Sat., December 10 and Sunday, December 11 from 10am - 4pm to remove the unnecessary items, and clean up the park. The Arctic Tent will be moved at 2pm on Saturday.
The Sustainability Working Group met at College Green Park on Dec 6 to discuss how to move forward with the physical occupation of College Green Park. The Working Group, which is authorized by Occupy Iowa City's General Assembly to make decisions and take actions regarding the physical occupation, decided to remove all items for food production and storage from the park and to discontinue public meals during the winter months.
The Occupation Working Group was created by Occupy Iowa City's General Assembly on Dec. 4 to take responsibility for how to maintain and continue a sustainable occupation of College Green Park during the winter months. The proposal that was approved to create the Working Group specifically gave it the authority to take action with regard to the physical occupation.
